THE GENERAL LAW VILLAGE ACT Act 3 of 1895

"AN ACT to provide for the government of certain villages; to define their powers and duties; to provide for the levy and collection of taxes, borrowing of money, and issuance of bonds and other evidences of indebtedness by villages subject to this act; to define the powers and duties of certain state and local officers and entities; to define the application of this act and provide for its amendment by villages subject to this act; to validate prior amendments and certain prior actions taken and bonds issued by villages subject to this act; to provide for the disincorporation of villages; and to prescribe penalties and provide remedies.

The governing body for the Village of Fowlerville is the Village Council. The Council is composed of six Trustees and the Village President, elected by the citizens of the Village of Fowlerville to represent the Village. Village Council Members are elected for four-year terms. The Village President is elected for two-year terms.

Meetings are held the first and third Monday of each month at 7:30 PM at Village of Fowlerville Offices (213 S. Grand Avenue), in the Council Chambers Room (main level).  Enter the Chambers through the double doors at the front entrance of the building. Handicap access and parking are provided at the ramp on the east side of the building (Fowlerville Police Department entrance, parking lot off of Church Street). 

The public is welcome to attend meetings. The Call to the Public portion of the Council Meetings is the time for citizens to voice their concerns and opinions on Village matters. Council opens Call to the Public at the beginning and end of each meeting, with a three-minute time limit for each speaker. Please be aware of the Call to the Public Policy.

The Council encourages residents to speak with individual Council members outside of regular meetings.
